{"id":16453,"date":"2025-10-06T11:54:50","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T08:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.automotive-today.ro\/?p=16453"},"modified":"2025-10-06T13:00:58","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T10:00:58","slug":"mercedes-benz-opens-new-advanced-light-testing-centre-in-germany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.automotive-today.ro\/index.php\/2025\/10\/06\/mercedes-benz-opens-new-advanced-light-testing-centre-in-germany\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercedes-Benz opens new advanced light testing centre in Germany"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated what it calls the most advanced light testing centre in the global automotive industry, further expanding the extensive capabilities of its Global Proving Ground in Immendingen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The newly opened facility, which spans 135 metres in length and stands eight metres high, allows the company to test cutting-edge headlight systems under fully controlled, repeatable conditions \u2014 entirely independent of time of day, weather, or environmental variables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the heart of the new centre is a meticulously recreated 135-metre country road, complete with a specially engineered asphalt surface designed to mimic the reflective qualities of aged pavement. The facility can test up to five vehicles simultaneously, including simulated oncoming traffic and preceding vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investment in the light testing centre totals <strong>10.5 million euros<\/strong>, with construction taking two years to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Immendingen Test and Technology Centre is the first digitised Mercedes-Benz proving ground \u2014 here, real and virtual vehicle testing merge seamlessly,\u201d said <strong>Markus Sch\u00e4fer<\/strong>, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Chief Technology Officer, Development &amp; Purchasing. \u201cBy digitally mapping the proving ground, using automated test programmes and employing state-of-the-art sensor technology, we are making vehicle development more efficient, faster and more sustainable than ever before.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated what it calls the most advanced light testing centre in the global automotive industry, further expanding the extensive capabilities of its Global Proving Ground in Immendingen.
