At the event marking the 30th anniversary of the Romanian automotive manufacturers\u2019 association ACAROM, Alexandru Plocon, Financial Manager of Continental Tires Romania, said Europe and Romania have the industrial foundations needed to regain competitiveness in the global automotive sector, despite increasing pressure from China\u2019s rapid expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are talking a lot these days about what China has achieved over the past five to ten years, about the expansion and market share China has gained worldwide,\u201d said Alexandru Plocon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that Chinese manufacturers recently announced they had surpassed the milestone of producing more than 1,000 vehicle models in China, many of which are already present in Europe and Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, it sounds quite frightening, but at the same time it is also challenging,\u201d Plocon stated. \u201cIt is a signal that if we were able to achieve these things in Europe in the past, others can now do them as well \u2014 and why couldn\u2019t we bring them back and reindustrialize Europe and Romania?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Plocon, the automotive industry is increasingly focused on automation, modern technologies, and sustainability, especially across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEurope has industrial history and industrial expertise, and through a joint effort from all of us, we can revive and reindustrialize the industry,\u201d he said. \u201cAs I mentioned, this should be directed toward automation and modern technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Plocon also pointed to several structural challenges facing investors in Romania, including instability in fiscal policy and slow administrative procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI would also like to highlight the issue of fiscal policy, which is rather unstable and at times unclear,\u201d he said. \u201cWe also face a very slow permitting process for investments and construction authorizations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that speed is becoming increasingly important in attracting foreign investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is necessary to move faster in issuing permits and authorizations in order to attract foreign investments,\u201d Plocon added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He mentioned the importance of closer cooperation between the public and private sectors to accelerate investment projects and respond more efficiently to the needs of the business community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are convinced that through partnership and close collaboration between the public and private sectors, we can create cohesion and establish a dialogue that leads to rapid responses to the needs of the business environment \u2014 responses that are so necessary for the swift launch of investments,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
