OMV Petrom inaugurates the largest electric charging hub in Romania

OMV Petrom is expanding its electric mobility infrastructure by adding fast charging services for electric trucks, with 400 kW stations in its network. In Miercurea Sibiului, on the A1 motorway, the company now operates the largest electric charging hub in Romania, with 34 fast charging points in total – 17 in each direction, 16 for cars and 18 for trucks.
The electric car charging stations each have a power of 300 kW. The truck charging stations have a capacity of 400 kW. The total installed power for vehicle charging is 10 MW (5 MW in each direction).
Payment for charging services can be made either through payment terminals installed near the charging stations, as well as through the OMV eMotion mobile application available in the AppStore and Google Play.
“Our 2030 strategy includes the development of the most extensive network of electric vehicle charging stations in Romania, as part of our effort to support the decarbonization of transport. The A1 motorway is one of Romania’s main trade routes, part of the pan-European TEN-T corridor,” said Radu Căprău, member of the OMV Petrom management board responsible for Refining and Marketing.
OMV Petrom operates a network of 780 petrol stations under the Petrom and OMV brands in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Serbia. The company has developed a network of around 1,000 charging points for electric vehicles in the region.
In line with its strategy, OMV Petrom is expanding its electric vehicle charging infrastructure, aiming to install over 5,000 charging points by 2030, becoming the largest provider of electric mobility services in Romania.
