LEKTRI.CO analysis – The Romanian electric car market reaches a new record in June 2026, the best month so far for electric vehicle registrations
LEKTRI.CO, one of the main players in the field of electric mobility in Romania, publishes the data for June 2026 on the evolution of the electric car market.
During this period, 2,264 electric vehicles were registered, the best monthly performance recorded so far on the Romanian market, an evolution that confirms the accelerated maturation of the segment and the growing interest in electric mobility.

According to data centralized by LEKTRI.CO, out of the total of 47,757 vehicles registered last month, regardless of engine, electric vehicles accounted for 4.74%. Of the 2,264 EVs registered during this period, 2,124 are cars and 140 are electric vans, and after subtracting the 167 deregistrations, the net balance for the month remains at 2,097 electric vehicles. Thus, June 2026 becomes the best performing month recorded so far for the electric vehicle market in Romania, both in terms of the volume of registrations and their share in the total automotive market.
Cumulatively, in the first six months of 2026, 8,947 electric vehicles were registered in Romania, which shows that 2026 could become the best year in the history of the local electric car market.
“The June results confirm that the electric car market in Romania is entering a maturation stage. We are no longer talking about a market supported by one or two dominant models, but about an increasingly diverse ecosystem, in which traditional manufacturers and new players are contributing together to accelerate electrification. We see an increase in both the passenger car and electric van segments, which shows that the transition to electric mobility is starting to be adopted in the commercial transport area as well,” said Claudiu Suma, CEO of LEKTRI.CO.
