Dacia unveils the new-generation Spring
Dacia has unveiled the new generation of the Spring, marking the next chapter for one of Europe’s most successful affordable electric cars. Since its launch in 2021, the Spring has sold more than 210,000 units across more than 40 countries.
The second-generation Spring has been completely redesigned and is built on Renault Group’s new RG-EV Small platform. The new model features significantly different proportions, including an 18 cm increase in width, which translates into more interior space and improved practicality.
The new Spring is also the first Dacia model to benefit from Renault Group’s latest development programmes, which aim to accelerate vehicle development, reduce development times to less than two years and lower costs. Production takes place in Europe at Renault Group’s plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
Under the bonnet, the new Spring is powered by an electric motor developing 60 kW (80 hp) and 175 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds and has a top speed of 130 km/h.
Power comes from a 27.5 kWh usable LFP battery, providing up to 250 km of range on the WLTP combined cycle. According to Dacia, this means that one charge per week should be sufficient for most Spring users.
Charging is handled by a standard 6.6 kW AC onboard charger. Using a domestic socket, the battery can be charged from 15% to 80% in nine hours, making overnight or daytime charging possible without the need for dedicated home charging equipment.
With a heavy-duty socket, the same 15–80% charge takes 5 hours and 40 minutes, while a 7 kW home charger reduces the charging time to just 2 hours and 55 minutes.
The new Spring remains faithful to Dacia’s value-for-money philosophy, combining an affordable purchase price with low running costs, a modern and robust design, and generous interior space for the A-segment.
Dacia expects the entire new Spring range to be priced below €18,000 before any potential government incentives or subsidies, positioning the electric city car as one of the most accessible EVs on the European market.
