Continental to invest 45 million euros to expand production at Sibiu R&D center

Continental is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Sibiu this year. To mark the event, the company announced the start of work on the new production module – the 7th – with a planned investment of over 45 million euros. Part of the investment will be covered by state funds allocated to stimulate investments with a major impact on the Romanian economy.

Module 7 will have an area of ​​over 15,000 sqm. Of this area, 6500 sqm are allocated to the production area, and the rest is related to the logistics area, the office area, as well as other additional spaces, all equipped with the necessary equipment. The expansion also comes with a new body for the location’s canteen. Completion of the new production module is planned for the end of next year. Start of production in spring 2026.

In the new module of the R&D center, engineers, technicians and operators will work together on the production of intelligent autonomous driving systems, connectivity systems and other mobility solutions for key automotive customers around the world, all in a modern factory with state-of-the-art technologies time and smart processes of industry 4.0.
