AUMOVIO, a new brand and adaptive force that defines safe, exciting, connected and autonomous mobility, is officially launched in Romania today. The company, spun off from Continental, operates in the automotive sector and becomes independent in September. It is scheduled to be listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on September 18, 2025.
At a national level, AUMOVIO is present in Brașov, Iași, Sibiu and Timișoara. The company has four research and development centers in Romania (Brașov, Iași, Sibiu and Timișoara) and two production units (Sibiu and Timișoara). Approximately 13,000 employees, of which more than half are engineers and IT specialists in the research and development centers, are part of the AUMOVIO team in our country.
Dr. Liviu Bălan, Head of Country AUMOVIO în România: Same passion, new identity – today marks the beginning of a new era – AUMOVIO – an adaptive force where we define the future of mobility through state-of-the-art electronic solutions and innovative technologies for autonomous and software-defined vehicles. And Romania’s role in accelerating this transformation is essential. Our locations in Brașov, Iași, Sibiu and Timișoara are ready for the future: digitalized, innovative and with expanded skills. We are motivated to be a market leader alongside AUMOVIO and to contribute strongly from Romania to this journey together with our teams in R&D centers, production, certification laboratories and colleagues with global responsibilities.
AUMOVIO has implemented a comprehensive strategic program to support its growth and value creation trajectory as an independent entity. The program, announced back in June, has three strategic objectives:
1. AUMOVIO aims to lead the market with innovative and future-ready products. Products that already occupy a position in the top three globally represent over 80% of global sales. AUMOVIO intends to expand this share with the help of its impactful technologies in all profitable product segments.
2. AUMOVIO aims to transform into a high-performance organization. This objective is supported by measures to optimize the portfolio, improve processes, strengthen operational excellence and reduce costs.
3. AUMOVIO aims to deliver results according to targeted financial objectives. This strategic pillar is guided by the long-term ambition to create sustainable value for AUMOVIO’s future shareholders.
The technology and electronic solutions company combines decades of experience and a solid market position with pioneering innovations and a global presence. AUMOVIO offers from Romania a broad portfolio of sensor, display, braking and comfort solutions, supported by extensive expertise in architecture platforms and assistance systems for connected and autonomous mobility.
Lăcrămioara Dărăban, Head of Country HR AUMOVIO in Romania: At AUMOVIO, we believe that success is not just a goal – it is a part of us. For 25 years, our people have been pushing the boundaries of technology and creating value in a market that is constantly changing. They are the engine behind the action, and we offer them the trust and support necessary to define, through their work and determination, the performance of the new company and the development of the entire community.
All of the company’s global business areas are also represented in Romania, thus having a complete and well-defined presence on the local market.
The Autonomous Mobility (AM) business area offers a comprehensive range of products for automated and autonomous driving, holding a leading position in the global market for commercial vehicles and essential components and systems for autonomous driving (e.g. sensors, radars). Through its “as a service” approach, this area also explores new business models.
The Architecture and Network Solutions (ANS) business area is focused on the essential requirements of the software-defined vehicle, with a product portfolio that includes high-performance computers, telematics systems, propulsion systems, sensors and actuators. Currently, ANS already holds a leading position on the market, with approximately 90% of its core product portfolio.
With over 100 years of experience in vehicle safety, the Safety and Motion (SAM) business area is one of the global leaders in braking systems, integrated safety systems and sensor systems. This area is a pioneer in the development of dry braking systems and was one of the first suppliers to receive a large-volume order for a semi-dry braking system. AUMOVIO sees huge potential for the future in these braking systems due to the improved product features.
In the User Experience (UX) business area, AUMOVIO is a leading provider of display solutions and head-up displays. UX has a broad and diversified portfolio, from modern high-tech displays to competitive products for the high-volume market. UX expects the value of installed components per vehicle to increase in the future, driven by larger displays and new products such as panoramic head-up displays that extend across the entire length of the dashboard. In addition, UX intends to strengthen its competitiveness by capitalizing on economies of scale in production in its megafactories.
The AUMOVIO company in Romania aims to be recognized, also in this new form of organization, as a reliable, agile and responsible partner, both internally and externally.
