LEKTRI.CO: Romania’s EV market grew 89 percent in August
LEKTRI.CO, one of the leading players in Romania’s e-mobility sector, has published the latest data on the country’s electric vehicle (EV) market. August 2025 recorded an 89 percent increase in EV registrations compared to the same period last year, highlighting the crucial role of price predictability and affordability in consumer choices—even in the absence of government subsidies.
According to LEKTRI.CO’s data, 1,335 new electric vehicles were registered in August (including 57 light commercial vehicles – LCVs), representing 6.11 percent of all new vehicle registrations during the month.
“We continue to see the consolidation of the EV market in Romania. Even without the Rabla program, which was delayed this year compared to its usual schedule, the August figures confirm strong demand. We estimate that 2025 will close at a level similar to or above 2024, confirming the maturity of the local e-mobility market,” said Claudiu Suma, CEO of LEKTRI.CO.
In August 2025, the Hyundai Kona led registrations with 298 units, followed by Tesla Model 3 (176 units) and Hyundai Inster (110 units). Ford Puma and Explorer rounded out the Top 5.
With four months left in the year and 4,748 units needed to match 2024’s total, forecasts indicate at least parity with last year’s performance. The strong August results propelled Hyundai Kona to 3rd place in the annual ranking and Hyundai Inster to 7th, while Dacia Spring remains the overall leader but risks losing its top spot if low sales persist.
