Klass Wagen exceeds 215,000 rentals per year, accelerates its expansion in the European car rental market
Klass Wagen continues to expand in the European car rental market and has surpassed 215,000 rentals per year. The Romanian company has a fleet of over 7,000 cars with an average age of 1–2 years.
Klass Wagen operates in Romania, Hungary, Portugal, and Austria. The most important cities for its operations are Lisbon, Bucharest, Porto, Budapest, and Faro. The average rental duration is approximately 7 days in Romania, 7 days in Portugal, 6 days in Hungary, and 5 days in Austria.
The customer base consists of both international tourists and domestic travelers. Over the past year, the majority of reservations came from the United Kingdom—14%—followed by Romania and France at 11% each, Germany and Portugal at 8% each, and Italy at 6%.
“We have built Klass Wagen based on a simple idea: mobility must be accessible, predictable, and barrier-fr ee, no matter which country a customer is traveling in. Expanding into multiple markets has shown us that people’s needs are similar: they want the right car, a simple process, and the assurance that they have a trusted partner by their side. For us, growth doesn’t just mean a larger fleet, but the ability to maintain the same quality standards and the same experience for every customer, in every country where we operate”, says Norbert Sabou, CEO Klass Wagen.
Klass Wagen entered the Romanian market in 2009, the Hungarian market in 2017, the Portuguese market in 2020, and the Austrian market in 2025. At the group level, the company grew from approximately 5,500 vehicles in 2023 to 6,000 in 2024 and 6,300 in 2025, exceeding 7,000 vehicles in 2026.
Between May 2025 and May 2026, Klass Wagen handled over 215,000 car pickups group-wide, confirming that car rental services have become an important part of how people choose to travel.
The busiest periods of time for the company are the summer months, especially July and August, when demand peaks at all locations. Easter, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, public holidays, and school breaks are also times of high demand, but demand for rental cars extends beyond the holidays.
“We’re seeing a clear shift in customer behaviour: renting a car is no longer associated exclusively with vacations. In Romania and across Europe, car rentals have become a mobility solution for an increasing number of situations: business meetings, trips between cities, events, times when one’s own car isn’t available, or family trips. Flexibility is one of the main reasons people choose to rent a car, and companies, in turn, are looking for quick and efficient solutions for their employees and partners”, ads Alexandru Vatră, COO Klass Wagen.
