Liviu Balan, Aumovio Romania: “From a technological standpoint, we are ready to take the big step toward large-scale autonomous driving”
“I believe that, from a software development perspective, we are at a point where we can grow even further in Romania. And we have a series of strategic advantages.
First, we have a highly qualified workforce for software development. Our geographical position is also an advantage. We are, of course, closely connected with our partners in Europe, but at the same time, we can develop and run projects globally—in the United States, Japan, or China.
What is very important, in my view, is to maintain a close collaboration with our clients and to truly understand how they want to develop future vehicle architectures, and we have the necessary competencies to meet all the requirements they present to us,” said Liviu Balan, Head of Country, Aumovio Romania, at the 2025 Automotive Forum organized by Automotive Today and The Diplomat-Bucharest.
Key statements:
• “We develop and produce in Romania braking systems, suspensions, comfort components, electronic control elements, and everything related to connectivity and autonomous driving.”
• “From a technological perspective, we are ready to take the big step toward large-scale autonomous driving. The technology is ready, but we are not prepared from a legislative standpoint, and the infrastructure is not ready either. We are not yet 100% prepared, but I am convinced that the future belongs to autonomous vehicles.”
• “We are certainly competitive. We have the technology, the competencies, and we run global projects just like any other Aumovio group location. We have the necessary infrastructure and the ability to invest in new equipment or new technologies depending on our needs.”
