Ford strengthens its leadership position in Romania’s EV market in 2025
Ford consolidated its position as a leader in Romania’s electric vehicle market in 2025, both in passenger cars and commercial vehicles. With a total of 2,132 electric vehicles registered (passenger and commercial), Ford reached a 15% market share, marking a year-on-year growth of 360%.
Over the full year 2025, the Explorer and Capri models ranked first and second in their segment, achieving a combined market share of over 45%. Meanwhile, the Puma Gen-E, commercially launched in the second quarter of last year, finished the year in second place in the small electric car segment, with more than 500 units sold.
The Kuga Plug-in Hybrid continues to be a benchmark on the Romanian market, retaining its status as the best-selling PHEV model for the fifth consecutive year. In 2025, Kuga recorded more than 650 units sold.
Ford’s strong 2025 performance is further supported by the results of the Ford Pro division, which is the market leader in commercial vehicles both overall and in the electric segment. In Romania, Ford Pro achieved an overall market share of 18.87%, while in electric commercial vehicles it recorded a market share of 43.3%.
“The 2025 results confirm that our electrification strategy is working and that Ford is now a benchmark on the Romanian market. The Puma Gen-E, Explorer and Capri models, together with the continued success of the Kuga Plug-in Hybrid and the strong performance of Ford Pro, demonstrate that we offer relevant solutions for our customers’ real needs, regardless of segment,” said Roxana Capătă, Managing Director of Ford Romania Services.
