Romania’s car production falls 7.8 percent in first eight months
Romania’s car production declined by 7.8 percent in the first eight months of 2026, according to data from the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Romania (ACAROM).
In July and August, a total of 61,778 new vehicles were produced at the plants in Mioveni and Craiova, down 1.2 percent compared with the same period in 2025.
Dacia’s plant in Mioveni assembled 29,610 vehicles, while Ford Otosan’s factory in Craiova produced 32,168 units.
During the first eight months of 2026, the two plants produced a combined 319,750 new vehicles, marking a 7.8 percent decline compared with the same period last year.
Romania’s total car production reached 545,510 vehicles in 2025, down 2.6% from the record level recorded in 2024.
